The SPAB (Society of the Protection of Ancient Buildings) Work party 2015.

11th July 2015

Richard and I were assigned to the Small Barn for our contribution towards this years SPAB work party at Sullington manor.

Once we had removed the really and trully clapped out clap board, we could see what we had.

After cleaning back what we needed to, it was obvious that not even me and Richard could get this part of the barn fixed in a few days !  There was a programe in place and the cill beam is sheduled  for replacement later in the year. I asked the timber framer what he would like to see done and he said to me " it would be really hepfull to get the stone plinth preped". So that was it, focus on getting the inappropiate cement pointing out, re- build the some parts of the plinth and repoint it, ready for the framing.

I considered the time at the SPAB working party my summer holiday for 2015 !
